Where can I download the installation file?
You can get the official HVDK Standard installer from this website. Don’t get it from anywhere else as it will not be the official, unaltered release. You will get a link to download the official HVDK Professional installer when you purchase a subscription.
Is the file safe?
Yes. It has been scanned by VirusTotal, which uses 60 different virus scanners. You can confirm this by uploading the file to www.virustotal.com and they will scan it for free. Some antivirus apps may give warnings because this is a new installation file, and it has not been downloaded by many people yet. These are typically ‘reputation’ warnings. The installation file has been digitally signed by the developer of the HDVK, Tetherscript Technology Corporation.
What does it install?
It will install files in the folder you specify, as well as the virtual joystick, mouse and keyboard drivers. The Professional version also includes an additional set of unsigned drivers. You may want to install it to a folder other the \program files(x86) or \program files if you want to be able to open the SDK code and save it again, since windows restricts updating files in those folders. Installing it to something like c:\HVDKStandard will work fine.
Do I need to install it as Admin?
Yes, because it installs the virtual joystick, mouse and keyboard drivers, and this requires admin permission.
Do I need to reduce Windows security to be able to install the drivers?
How do I reinstall the virtual drivers?
You must uninstall/reinstall HVDK Standard or Professional, or use the install batch files in the /drivers folder where you installed HVDK Standard or Professional.
How long will HVDK Standard run for? Is there a trial period?
HVDK Standard isn’t a trial. It will continue to run and won’t expire.
